Test information: Gastrin is measured with suspected Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, in patients with persistent ulcer symptoms and those with suspected familial multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1. This test can be requested alone, and is also part of the Gut Hormone profile.

- Patient must be FASTING. Patients should ideally stop H2 blockers for 72hours, and omeprazole for 2 weeks, prior to blood test. After taking the sample, IMMEDIATELY deliver to the laboratory.
