Test information: Specifically used to monitor the presence of Hepatitis E Virus in susceptible groups of immunocompromised patients. Presence in blood indicates infectivity and active viral replication. Can be detected in blood immediately prior to the onset of symptoms. Becomes undetectable within a few days to weeks after the onset of symptoms.
Availability: Referred to the Micropathology Ltd: Monday - Friday during routine hours: 08:45 - 17:15.
