Angiotensin converting enzyme
Alias: ACE
Discipline: Clinical Chemistry
Test information: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is elevated in 50-80% patients with active Sarcoidosis. However, due to the genetic variability of the ACE gene (insertion & deletions) in 20-50% of cases the ACE is within the reference range. ACE is primarily used in the monitoring changes after treatment, rather than diagnosis.
