Zinc protoporphyrin

Test information: ZPP is present in red blood cells when there is not enough iron available to form haem and zinc combines with protoporphyrin in the absence of iron. ZPP is elevated in patients with X-linked protoporphyria (XLPP), iron deficiency anaemia and chronic exposure to lead.
