Test information: Alpha Subunits (ASU) may be used in the investigation of clinically non-functioning pituitary tumours, very rare thyrotropinmas & gonadotropinomas and some gastro-entero-pancreatic tumours. It can be useful in the investigation of anomalous thyroid function tests, after thyrotropinoma, thyroid hormone resistance and analytical interference have been ruled out. DISCUSSION WITH THE LABORATORY IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO REQUESTING.
